Learning Safely

Students of classes onsite or at College venues are requested to carry out lateral flow tests prior to attending class.

For onsite classes:-

If you are attending college once per week, we are requesting that you take one weekly test.

If you attend college twice per week more than 3 days apart, we are requesting that you take 2 tests.

Please note, we strongly encourage students to test themselves but it is not mandatory.

Information on Testing

Students can collect home test kits from the College reception.

Students will be given a pack of 7 tests in a box with a separate leaflet on how to take the test and report the results.

Students are being asked to take their tests before they attend College.

Kits can also be ordered for home delivery from the below link:

https://www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests

Guidance in alternative languages can be found at https://bit.ly/3tnn9Pk

Taking the test
Students are asked to make sure they have enough time to do the test the day of attending College, although tests can be taken the evening before College if necessary.

Help and support is available, including instructions in different languages on how to test and report the results and a video showing you how to take the test.

This does not replace symptomatic testing. If anyone has symptoms, they should self- isolate immediately, book a PCR test and follow national guidelines.

Test results need to be reported.
The result of each test needs to be reported using the NHS Test & Trace self-report website: https://www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result.

Students also need to tell the College the result of each test by forwarding emailed test results to covidresult@suttoncollege.ac.uk or text test results to 07511 404506.

Please contact the College main number on 0208 289 4700 if you have any questions or concerns about home testing.

Thank you to all for your support in keeping Sutton College learners and staff safe in these challenging times.

Sutton College is committed to delivering quality learning safely to all, in line with Government guidance.

We have:
– Taken reasonable steps to implement safe learning at our sites.
– Screens, sanitisers and extra cleaning regimes are all in place.

Masks should continue to be worn in all communal College areas unless exempt. Thank you to all our students for their efforts wearing facemasks thus far.
These and many other procedures will be put in place to keep students and staff safe at all times.

We are also asking students to complete lateral flow tests prior to attending College where possible.

Please see information posters around the College and see our Essential Information for Coming to Sutton College.

Read below for changes to class delivery methods and see our FAQs on Returning to Learning at Sutton College

In the event that the College is informed of a member of the College community having a confirmed case of Covid-19 , all those who are affected by this information will be notified. Attendance registers will be used for the purpose of test and trace and information passed on to the NHS if necessary.

Class Delivery Methods

Our programme has been adapted and we have some classes running onsite and some online. The method of delivery will be stated in the course title – eg Accounting Level 2 Certificate AAT (Online Course). Changes to course delivery will be communicated.

Steps including reduced class sizes have been implemented to ensure safe learning on-site at all times.

Online Courses:

These courses will run entirely online , usually through Google classroom. Support is available.
See our Guide to Using Google Classroom

Blended Learning:

These courses are a mixture of online classes plus face-to-face contact with your tutor which could be in a classroom setting.

Flexible Learning:

These courses can be started at any point during the year and are generally studied online.

As social distancing measures have eased, safety is still our top priority and we still have a large number of protective measures in place to ensure that the College environment is as safe as it possibly can be for you and our staff. These include testing, mask wearing and socially distanced classrooms
