Course Information

What are the overall aims of the course?

This is a one day introductory course in acrylic techniques. Explore wash and texture techniques. Experiment with different approaches. Whether you are a complete beginner or have some experience and wish to refresh your basic acrylic skills you will be welcome. The week continues with an introduction to oils
In this informal one day course you will learn how to use basic acrylic techniques and apply these to simple subject matter

What will I learn on the course?

Use basic acrylic techniques both diluted and direct
Use basic colour mixing techniques
Produce a simple painting in acrylic
Appreciate the work of artists who use acrylics

Ability to understand spoken English

How will I be taught?

Classroom based (including practical work where applicable)
Tutorials
This is primarily a practical class where you will see tutor demonstrations & presentations and use these to develop your own skills. Personal practice outside the class will be beneficial to your progress.

How will my progress be checked?

Informal assessment in class
Tutor observation
Continual informal assessment. Verbal feedback will be given in one to one sessions as well as general feedback to the whole group & small groups as appropriate

Does the course have any features I should be aware of?

This is an informal one day course for you to enjoy, explore & experiment with basic watercolour techniques.

What do I need to bring with me to class?

Pencil & notebook
Acrylic paints if you have them
Drawing boards & some demonstration materials will be available for you to use
