What are the overall aims of the course?
The aim for this course is to help students develop skills in manual book-keeping adjustments in Journals (correcting errors), Depreciation (Straight Line and Reduce Balance methods), Prepayment & Accruals, Bad Debts and Provision doubtful debts and control accounts in Purchases and Sales Ledgers. Students will understand how to identify Capital and Revenue expenditures and complete extended trail balance with a combination of adjustment skills.
What will I learn on the course?
How to demonstrate the adjustment skills in correcting errors of Journals
How to record provision for depreciation accounts
How to identify the differences of prepayment and accruals,
How to prepare bad debts and record provision for doubtful debts and clarify the significance of control accounts in purchase and sales ledgers.
Understand the differences between capital and revenue expenditures and complete financial documents such as Trial Balance, Profit and Loss Account and Balance Sheet Account.

As this course leads to a qualification, you will be required to attend a course approval interview. This is to ensure the course is suitable for you. You may also be asked to complete a test/tests.

Does the course have any features I should be aware of?
This is a fast paced course, with classes twice a week. If you have commitments outside of college which would make it challenging to study at this pace, please select one of our ‘Steady Pace’ courses which meet once a week.
What do I need to bring with me to class?
Pen, paper, folder and calculator.
