This course is suitable for learners with no previous experience of calligraphy as well as those with some experience.

In this course you will study pointed pen writing.

Pointed pen writing, now called Copperplate, is hand developed from the 17th century. We will look at and study the historical writings and develop them in modern way.

New students will study the letterforms step by step, the structure of the letterforms, family groups, joining, spacing, words exercises and write out the text in various sizes. You will also learn how to choose and use the basic materials to be able to write beautifully. The course includes tryout colours and simple pen made decorations. At the end of the course you will be able to make a small card or small piece of work with writing and decorations.
