What are the overall aims of the course?
The aim of this course is to help students understand how to create accounts, process accounting information in respect of the Sales and Purchase ledgers, understand how to calculate batch totals and to be able to produce accounting reports such as trial balance, customer/supplier activity and details reports.
What will I learn on the course?
How to set up suppliers, customers and nominal expense accounts
How to process sales and purchase invoices & credit notes
How to process supplier cheque paid & customer cheque received
How to process capital introduced (cash and bank)
How to process other bank and cash payments and receipts
How to print management reports

If my course requires a Course Approval interview/assessment, what do I do?
As this course leads to a qualification, you will be required to attend a course approval interview. This is to ensure the course is suitable for you. You may also be asked to complete a test/tests.
To be considered for a place on this course, you will need to make an application by clicking on ‘Apply’. If you do not already have an account with Sutton College, you will need to create one before you can make an application.
When you click on ‘Apply’ for this course, you will be asked for some further information. You will then be emailed a link which will enable you to book a Course Approval date and time.

Does the course have any features I should be aware of?
This is a fast paced course, with classes twice a week. If you have commitments outside of college which would make it challenging to study at this pace, please select one of our ‘Steady Pace’ courses which meet once a week.
What do I need to bring with me to class?
Pen, paper, folder and calculator.
How do I find out if I can get some support for my learning?
Additional Learning Support (ALS) may be made available for learners who, at the time of assessment and/or enrolment, declare a difficulty or disability that may affect their learning.
