This flexible and enjoyable course is open to everyone with some drawing & painting experience and will support you to develop your drawing and painting skills further.
,
You will develop the basic techniques and personal observational principals required to draw & paint, expressively and with confidence. You will explore a variety of drawing media including Pencils, Charcoal and Painting media including Oils, Acrylics & Watercolour.
,
The course will explore still life, landscape and the figure/portrait working to a compositional theme.
,
Purpose of Course
,
You will be introduced to new ways of seeing, thinking and working and you will be encouraged to develop your own individual styles and methods.
,
Use observational skills and different drawing techniques.
Draw and paint with more confidence.
Demonstrate a confident use of colour and techniques.
Work with a range of media and develop your own style.
Relate your work to contemporary and historical styles & ideas.

- Prospective students should note, while use of watercolour is part of the course, this is NOT specifically a watercolour course. Beginners wishing to concentrate on watercolour ‘Techniques’ would be better enrolling on to a watercolour course at Sutton College.

For your first session, please bring; HB, 2B & 4B pencils, two sheets of A3/A2 cartridge paper, Putty rubber & Masking Tape Pencil/Pen & ring bound pad.

Extra costs: You will need to supply a selection of your own materials on this course: Charcoal – Compressed and willow, Water soluble crayons/pencils – a selection, Colour Pastels Acrylic Paints, Cartridge paper A3 & A2 size, Canvas, and Masking Tape.
