An opportunity to establish knowledge of common functions and develop further level 2 skills and knowledge.
What are the overall aims of the course?
This course will show you how to work with data that is provided, to format content to a more advanced level, to use still more complex formulae and reinforce those already known and appreciate why these work as they do to be confident in their future use.
Further graphs will be covered in this course to extend knowledge and skills of this important aspect of data work within the work on Pivot Tables. You will also be exposed to database work on larger than normal files.
What will I learn on the course?
Perform advanced formatting and conditional formatting
Appreciate the purpose of Lookups
Use more complex functions and formulae
Name and edit data and work with large quantities of data using Pivot Tables and Charts
Your tutor will give you more information at the start of the course
Are there any entry requirements?
To benefit from this course participants must have a good knowledge of the topics at Intermediate level of Excel.
Also, an understanding of the order of mathematical operations is important but will be covered.
Do I need to attend a course approval interview/assessment before I can join this course?
NO but the note above is very important - this is a challenging level which requires intermediate learning to be instilled.
How will I be taught?
Classroom based practical work following demonstration
Flexible Learning follows on through the materials handed out on the course as homework

Does the course have any features I should be aware of?
As a computer based course a good knowledge of the computer is a paramount.
The progress of the whole class can be hindered without this knowledge.
What do I need to bring with me to class?
A notepad and pen would be useful to make additional notes on top of those provided. An encrypted memory stick would be useful to take away your work for further practice but not vital as files will be emailed after the course. Email address is important.
How do I find out if I can get some support for my learning?
