What are the overall aims of the course?
Introduction to throwing techniques and the opportunity to use the wheel as a family unit.
Family Learning courses are designed to provide parents, grandparents, carers and their children an opportunity to learn together.
What will I learn on the course?
Learn basic techniques to make a cylinder/bowl on the potter's wheel.
Create a finished piece of work in a supportive family network.
Use strategies at home to improve your child/ren’s learning.
Be more active in support of your child/ren’s learning and development
Health and Safety Issues
Are there any entry requirements?
Priority will be given to adults who do not have a Maths AND/OR English GCSE A*-C Grades.
Priority will be given to adults with children with disabilities/additional needs.
No more than two children per adult on courses where children attend.
How will I be taught?
Classroom based (including practical work where applicable)
How will my progress be checked?
Informal assessment in class
Does the course have any features I should be aware of?
The use of clay materials may cause irritation to sensitive skin.
You should be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions, demonstrations, health and safety information relating to you and your child.
What do I need to bring with me to class?
Overall, apron or old clothes.
Advice will be given on tools at the first session.
How do I find out if I can get some support for my learning?
Additional support on family learning courses may be provided via a volunteer if appropriate
