The L2 Certificate will give you an internationally recognised qualification that will improve your practice and employment prospects in this ever growing industry.

PLEASE NOTE: This course requires a placement and that placement must be in the Borough of Sutton or the Borough of Epsom & Ewell or the Borough of Croydon.

Purpose of Course

This course is suitable for anyone wishing to gain a competency qualification in the Health &Care industry. It’s suitable for adult care workers, healthcare assistants, support workers, in residential or domiciliary care settings, and personal assistants and learners who wish to work or are working in a variety of different settings within the NHS and private care facilities.

This course is an online course. Your tutor will support you in building a course portfolio that will consist of Direct Observations in the workplace, Assignments and Knowledge Based Questions, and Study Guidance. It is a competence based qualification that assesses students in the development of knowledge and skills relating to the health and social care workforce. There are three Mandatory Units which will need to be completed to gain the qualification.

The mandatory units are:

Equality, diversity and rights in health and social care

Human growth and development

Safeguarding and protection in health and social care

You will be taught in an online class through a mixture of face-to face classroom based exercises, quizzes, short research projects. You will build a portfolio of evidence; this will be achieved through a variety of methods, including assessor observations, discussions, study packs and testimonials

The college platform for most teaching and learning will take place using Google Classrooms. The benefit of this is that you are able to access your work and support even from your mobile phone!

What level is this course & what skills do I need?

This course is a Level 2

Learners will need to be volunteering or on a practical placement to be able to show competence in both knowledge and skills.

You will need at least 2 hours per week of voluntary or paid employment in a care setting.

You will need to have completed the Level 1 Award Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care.

You will need to have appropriate levels of English skills in order to produce assignments necessary for this course.

You must have achieved an English Language GCSE at Grade 1 – 3 / G - D

or

You must have achieved a Functional Skills Level 1 qualification

You will also be asked to do an online English language test for the Course Approval Assessment to assess that you have the appropriate level of English in order to be accepted onto the course.

Is a course approval interview/assessment required?

Yes

To be considered for a place on this course, you are required to attend a Course Approval session to ensure this course is suitable for you. You may be asked to complete a test/tests.
