This Flexible Learning course is ideal for those who want a recognised unit qualification in Microsoft Office Skills but cannot commit to a weekly class.

What are the overall aims of the course?

At Level 1, the emphasis is on developing a solid base around the creation of presentations.
You will also learn editing techniques and know how to make appropriate printouts and manage your files.

What will I learn on the course?

In Presentations: Create, edit, format, save and print presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint 2013 or later.

An adviser or appointed tutor will give you more information about the course at your approval interview/assessment.
Each course is supported by a text specially prepared for this level of qualification.

Are there any entry requirements?

It is expected that candidates will have reached the standard one level below the level
at which is to be studied – Level E3 required here. Each L1 unit to be completed in 8 weeks.

Do I need to attend a course approval interview/assessment before I can join this course?

If my course requires a Course Approval interview/assessment, what do I do?

As this course leads to a qualification, you will be required to attend a course approval interview.
This is to ensure the course is suitable for you. You may also be asked to complete a test/tests.
To be considered for a place on this course, you will need to make an application by clicking on ‘Apply’.
If you do not already have an account with Sutton College, you will need to create one before you can make an application.
When you click on ‘Apply’ for this course, you will be asked for some further information. You will then be emailed a link which will enable you to book a Course Approval date and time.

How will I be taught?

This course is supported self-study from the text with a tutor available when requested.
There is a one hour taught session included in the price of each unit. Each L1 unit to be completed in 8 weeks.

How will my progress be checked?

Your work will be assessed by your tutor. There is no set examination; every set assignment undertaken is work submitted for the qualification. The number of assignments varies per unit.

Whenever work is submitted, feedback on individual performance will be provided on each piece of work. Evidence of this feedback is required and therefore all email contact must be kept for this purpose ideally within a single conversation for each assignment.

Does the course have any features I should be aware of?

All students must take the accreditation, the cost of which is included in the course fee.

This course is a ‘Flexible Learning’ course, which means you will not be attending College at set times.

Your tutor will agree with you the times when you will be required to attend tutorials/assessment sessions.

What do I need to bring with me to class?

You will be issued with a text which can be studied at home, at work or in Sutton College’s iCLICK Centre where there is usually someone to consult if necessary. Note: iCLICK Advisers are not available to teach. Your tutor is also your teacher if necessary, but this will be charged at £35 per hour over and above the one hour covered by your enrolment.

You can buy additional hours of tuition if you require them through our ‘One to One Tuition’ course.
