Course Information

What are the overall aims of the course?

During the course you will consolidate your existing knowledge from BSL Level 1 and refresh from any topic covered in Year 1.

What will I learn on the course?

Your tutor will decide which topic to concentrate on and revisit.

Introduction, including meeting people, numbers, weather, transport, directions and finger spelling, at home, people, animals and objects, interests and activities plus weather; school, college or work including getting around and exchanging information.

Are there any entry requirements?

This is a course open to all who have completed BSL Level 1 and are looking to enrol on the BSL Level 2 course.

Do I need to attend a course approval interview/assessment before I can join this course?


How will I be taught?

Communication through Sign Language will be the main focus of the class and you will be expected to take part in a variety of interactive activities either independently, in pairs or in groups. The tutor will facilitate your learning through demonstrations and reinforcement of language using computers, interactive whiteboards and printed handouts/resources.
Home study is essential in order to achieve and the tutor will set homework tasks – consolidation and practice in signing will be the key to success.

What do I need to bring with me to class?

You should bring pen and paper to make notes in class and an A4 size course folder.
