Getting the right skills and experience and being suitably qualified is essential if you want to care for children, young people or vulnerable adults. 

The tutors on our Counselling & Health courses are professionals and experts in their field. They come from a range of professional and vocational backgrounds having gained a wealth of experience in a variety of caring professions, including professional child care nursing, elderly and young/ vulnerable work, counsellors, as well as teachers. 

You will work in a challenging yet friendly environment, with specialist facilities and staff who are committed to helping you achieve your goals. Lessons are hands-on, creative and practical, and you will also benefit from a work placement (where applicable), so you’ll be work-ready by the time you complete your chosen pathway.

Our thriving Counselling department is placed within this area and goes from strength to strength, this year seeing its qualification progression route expand from Introduction to Counselling, right the way through to Level 4 Therapeutic Counselling Certificate (CPCAB). 

First Aid courses continue to be popular amongst all industry professionals, as a way of not only acknowledging work-place responsibilities of staff Health and Safety, but also as part of the increasing skills set required by all Health Care specialists, be it working in care homes/play centres. Whether you work in a primary school, an entertainment venue, or as an independent Nanny, Sutton College are able to support you in gaining a recognised First Aid certificate. Courses are also run as part of our Family Learning offer, enabling families to access this important training together.
