13 May 2010- Award Presentation Ceremony for Ault Learners’ Week
An evening well organised, welcoming, friendly and fun! What an event! Kasumi, Rob, Barbara, Tony and everyone behind the scenes did us proud. Despite the tight purse string this year SCOLA organised a memorable evening for both staff and learners. Those who came to support the award winners also had a lovely time.
The event was supported by our VIP and distinguished guests including the Worshipful the Mayor of the London Borough of Sutton, Cllr. Margaret Court and Representatives from the Council. SCOLA was proud to celebrate the achievements of so many of our students this year. It was great to have Tim Vine, the well known comedian and musician, born and Educated in Sutton volunteering his time to present some of the awards and prizes.
The icing on the cake was SCOLA’s Bob Wells who has also won the Outstanding Individual Learner in London Award and will be going to the House of Lords next week to receive his award.
All I have to say is that I came away for the event feeling humbled and so proud to be leading SCOLA. A wonderful start to a undoubtedly very successful Adult Learners’ Week for SCOLA. It was great to receive so many phone calls and messages from those who participated to say how much they enjoyed it and how welcome and valued they felt during the event.
I can’t wait for the Family Learning Day in the centre of Sutton on Saturday 15
th May. If you are reading this and have time, do come along! We have a band playing and a variety of programmes running. It should be a fun day and weather looks promising too! You can always check our website
