Keep Learning Summer Curses

Please find below an update from Dipa Ganguli, Sutton College Principal:

I am sure that many of you will have watched Boris Johnson’s briefing last night (Monday 11 May).  In light of the speculation about what this means in the media and elsewhere, I thought it would be helpful to remind you all that currently the advice for Sutton College has not changed. We continue to offer our Summer term courses as online delivery and centres currently remain closed for face to face learning. See our Summer Online Courses here.

Those of you on courses or thinking of joining us on a course soon may, very understandably, be wondering what a return to Sutton College will entail. You may also, like us, be wondering exactly when this return to College and learning may take place.

All at Sutton College want to return as soon as possible but whilst we must determine the right balance between restoring services and observing social distancing, our paramount concern is keeping you, our learners, and all staff safe.

We would like to reassure you that:

  • we are working closely with our funding agencies and the local authority, and work will take place, to make our centres as safe as they can be for when the time comes for the College to reopen.
  • we are planning very carefully how we can come of out of the current lockdown once the Government gives us the go head to ensure that the users of our building feel safe and adhere to all the social distancing rules to protect the staff and learners.
  • we continue to work on a programme that is accessible to all and that will enable students on both examinable and non-qualification courses to continue to learn. We are looking at options for both continued online delivery as well as the return to classroom based learning when this is appropriate. Included in this is are strengthened support systems for students to ensure that you feel confident and supported throughout your studies with us.

There is a lot of information available on our website including useful links and online resources to Support Your Online Studies plus there are free resources available to you as part of the Keep London learning initiative at www.suttoncollege.ac.uk/keep-london-learning/.

We will communicate any College developments on our COVID-19 Updates page to you as soon as possible and ask that you please do continue to feedback any issues, suggestions that you may have as we are aware that this is a challenging time for all of us.

Thank you for your patience and understanding throughout this challenging time and I hope you stay safe and well

Yours sincerely

Dipa Ganguli

Sutton College Principal
