Many students start their adventures in the world of flowers by taking the Foundation in Floristry course. The 10 week programme is ideal for those who are thinking of a new hobby or career or just if you love flowers.
This course enables you to explore floristry techniques and the practical skills required to produce arrangements and bouquets in both modern and traditional styles. Students will be introduced to the elements and principles of design, the care, conditioning and selection of suitable fresh plant materials and gift wrapping.
After this course, people go on to work within the floristry sector or some take the City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Floristry at Sutton College too. Students will definitely have the confidence to learn more or even start your own business.
No previous experience is necessary so enrol online now to secure a place.
Foundation in Floristry – see more details and enrol
Starts Thursday 21 April for 10 weeks from 10am – 12pm each week.
Held at the Sutton College Wallington Centre
In March Sutton College Floristry students took part in ‘Blooming Lovely’ and left beautiful bouquets around central Sutton. The idea, inspired by ‘The Lonely Bouquet’ initiative set up to spread the joy of flowers and make strangers happy, involved small bouquets being left around central Sutton to be ‘adopted’ and either taken home or passed on to someone who will appreciate them.
Before the event, loristry tutor Terri Rabson said ‘The students are happily entering into the community spirit and are creating these bouquets as part of their Floristry Level 2 course at Sutton College. It’s great to think that they will brighten the days of those that find them and show off the skills learned on our course. We can’t wait to hear where they end up’.
Several people let us know they were lucky enough to find bouquets via our social media sites –
‘I found one by chance!! I saw the flowers had a card and hoped I could get them to whoever has left them but then realised they were for me by finding them!! Thank you so much I’ve had a challenging week and this has made my day!!’
‘ I have also just found a beautiful bouquet of flowers behind m&s in Sutton! I thought they had been left there by accident but then realised it was my lucky day!!! Absolutely lovely thank you so much – you have made my day! ‘
The City & Guilds Level 2 Floristry course enables students to pursue a career in commercial floristry either in a flower shop or if they are thinking of starting their own business.
