Charity Book Sale for World Book Day

On Thursday 6th March, the Sutton College GCSE/Functional Skills team raised £77.10 for the Royal Marsden “Box of Smiles” charity through a World Book Day sale.
Students and the public generously donated in exchange for a range of books including children’s World Book Day books and GCSE and functional skills revision books. The charity the donations will be going to is called James’ Box of Smiles, a cause set up in memory of James Carpenter who sadly died of a brain tumour in 2022. His family donate boxes of lego to children with cancer at hospitals including the Marsden, Epsom and St Georges. The boxes provide joy and entertainment for children and teens during their treatment.
A huge thank you to all students, staff and passers-by who supported us by making a purchase. Your generosity is truly appreciated! If you would like to know more about James’ Box of Smiles charity, please follow the link here.
In addition to the book sale, the English Department were able to purchase exam revision books for all our students thanks to the UKSPF funded Step Ahead service.
