Fantastic Art & Craft Exhibition Celebrates Student Work

16 June 2022

Sutton College celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and as part of the commemorations, a display of art & craft student work is being held in the Gallery space in Sutton library. The event will run from Wednesday 15th June until Sunday 26th June on the second floor of Sutton’s central library, next door to the College.

Fantastic pieces of art work are on display as well as pottery and jewellery created in the bespoke teaching studios at the College. Some classes have produced work celebrating the special anniversary or along the theme of celebration.

In addition to paintings, drawings, calligraphy, print and photography pieces, the exhibition features work from the College’s supported learners with learning difficulties plus work from projects with Sutton Women’s Centre.

Thousands of art and craft students have studied at the College throughout the years, being taught by inspiring, professional tutors, many of whom are well known in their fields.

A preview evening, attended by the Mayor of Sutton, Leader of Sutton Council Ruth Dombey and many local community organisations with whom the college works with,  was held on Tuesday 14th June.

Ruth Dombey Leader of Sutton Council said ‘ It was fantastic to visit Sutton Central Library to see all the wonderful artwork made by students past and present from @suttoncollege.’
