Floristry learners raise funds for the Marsden

Last month our City & Guilds Level 2 Floristry Diploma learners decided to help people celebrate Mother’s Day in style.
As a group they wanted to create floral designs for Mother’s Day to sell to other learners, staff and anyone passing by the College. As part of their qualification, they have to work in industry as well as study at Sutton College, so they get a holistic learning experience and embed all their knowledge and skills into commercial floristry.
The beautiful designs were sold to raise funds for The Royal Marsden in Sutton, the world’s first hospital dedicated to cancer diagnosis, treatment, research and education. Total donations came in at over £230 so huge thanks to everyone who bought a beautiful display to take home.
Floristry courses at Sutton College run throughout the year. If you are unsure about a change of career or commit yourself to a yearlong course, you could attend a Entrepreneurs Level 1 Award course, the next of which starts on 7th July for 4 consecutive days. Attendees will be taught both mechanical and decorative techniques, industry standards, and how to prepare for event work. You will learn how to price, gain the understanding of basic business acumen, as well as how to promote your business to get customers.
More information on this course can be found HERE and if you earn under £27k p.a or are looking for work it will be free for you to attend.
