Hundreds attend Step Ahead Careers Fair at Sutton College

7 October 2024

Hundreds of people attended the first Step Ahead Careers Fair last week, speaking to the various organisations on offer to get help and advice about careers and training.

The event ran last Friday, during which hundreds of visitors spoke to representatives from the teaching, construction, social care, architecture, childcare areas and lots more including the police and fire brigade. The Step Ahead team led the way, offering information on how they can support with job applications, interview techniques and providing the skills, knowledge and support needed to ensure people are confident in applying for and progressing in employment.

Happy visitors went away with contacts, ideas and career plans for the future.

Polly Perschino, Head of Economy, Skills & Employment with the South London Partnership said:

‘I was completely blown away by the volume of people who were seeking advice, guidance and jobs, with people queuing outside the building just to get through the doors. It brought home to me how important these events are and how people still need to see and feel new opportunities, not just read about them online.’
