Imagine that! An Art History of Sutton

This week, visitors to Sutton library are treated to an art & photography exhibition of the history of Sutton & Sutton College as part of the ‘Imagine’ Arts Festival.

From Beginners through to Advanced artists, Art students at Sutton College took part in a 3 week challenge to create pieces based on Sutton’s buildings and places, both past and present.

Curriculum manager Angela Williams said “It was a tough task for our students to create designs in just 3 weeks but they relished the challenge and have produced some stunning work. It really is an exhibition of all levels and ages – the youngest artist to take part was 18yrs and the oldest was 93yrs!”

There is also the chance to see some historical photos of Sutton College, including when its present building was being constructed in 1972.

The College has developed from its days as ‘Sutton Liberal Arts College’ to ’SCOLA’ & now ‘Sutton College’, all the while being an integral part of the London Borough of Sutton.

The exhibition will run until Thursday 22nd October in the Europa Gallery, Sutton Library.
