The Sutton College annual awards evening were held last night and once again proved to be a fantastic, inspiring and motivating event.
Hosted by College Patron Tim Vine, attendees, including the Mayor of Sutton, Councillors and community groups listened to the stories and learning journeys of shortlisted nominees.
Nominators detailed the background of their nominations, celebrating their learner’s achievements, hard work and dedication and the winners were announced at the event, details as below.
The evening also featured a pottery demonstration followed by a challenge where Tim Vine and audience member Richard Halliday had 3 minutes each to make a bowl on the potter’s wheel.
Mayor of Sutton, Councillor Colin Stears said ‘You can learn every day at any age and the College and everyone here tonight demonstrate that. It is a fantastic thing to be able to learn something new, I have looked at the prospectus and there are so many things that I want to learn so I encourage everyone to take a look’
Shortlisted nominees included creative pottery students, teaching, beauty, functional skills, photography and ESOL students and all were very worthy of the recognition they received.
Well done to all the winners of the various categories and to everyone that was shortlisted.
