Returning to Sutton College for Classes – Important Information
Sutton College is committed to ensuring a safe learning environment for all our students, especially as we will be returning to site for some classes in the Summer Term.
Up to one in three people who have COVID-19 can spread the virus without knowing as they have no symptoms. To reduce the spread of the virus, we need to identify those individuals and we can do this in the College by carrying out tests at home. This is in addition to asking that masks be worn (unless exempt). Full information on Learning Safely can be found at www.suttoncollege.ac.uk/college/learning-safely/
Whilst it is not compulsory for students to carry out the Lateral Flow tests Sutton College strongly recommend that students do for their own safety and encourage all students attending classes on site or at our Outreach venues to take part.
Taking part in testing is voluntary and students will be able to attend College whether taking part in testing or not. Testing at home will allow the College to help reduce the spread of the virus.
For onsite classes:-
If students attend college once per week, students are being asked to take one weekly test.
If students attend college twice per week more than 3 days apart, students are being asked to take 2 tests.
Taking test kits home
Students can collect home test kits prior to the commencement of the summer term, from the College on the following days.
Sutton Centre, St Nicholas Way, Sutton SM1 1EA
Monday – Friday 10.00 a.m – 4.30 p.m each day.
Wallington Centre, Old Town Hall, Woodcote Road Wallington SM6 0NB
Monday -Thursday 9.30a.m – 1.30 p.m each day
Students will be given a pack of 7 tests in a box with a separate leaflet on how to take the test and report the results.
Students are being asked to take their tests before they attend College.
Kits can also be ordered for home delivery from the below link:
https://www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests
Guidance in alternative languages can be found at https://bit.ly/3tnn9Pk
Taking the test
Students are asked to make sure they have enough time to do the test the day of attending College, although tests can be taken the evening before College if necessary.
Help and support is available, including instructions in different languages on how to test and report the results and a video showing you how to take the test.
This does not replace symptomatic testing. If anyone has symptoms, they should self- isolate immediately, book a PCR test and follow national guidelines.
Test results need to be reported.
The result of each test needs to be reported using the NHS Test & Trace self-report website: https://www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result.
Students also need to tell the College the result of each test by forwarding emailed test results to covidresult@suttoncollege.ac.uk or text test results to 07511 404506.
Please contact the College main number on 0208 289 4700, if you have there are questions or concerns about home testing.
Thank you to all for your support in keeping Sutton College learners and staff safe in these challenging times.
