Students recognised by Festival of Learning 2020

25 June 2020

Earlier this year, several Sutton College tutors and curriculum colleagues nominated individuals and groups to receive a national Festival of Learning Award for their learning achievements. Whilst our nominations were not selected for an award this year, all those nominated definitely deserve recognition and the National Learning and Work Institute who lead the awards, supported by the Department for Education stated that:

‘Each year, the quality of nominations we receive is exceptional, making the selection process very difficult, and this year again was no different.’

Those nominated for a Festival of Learning award included Sutton Women’s Centre and students Olympia Mytaftsi and Laryssa Tymoshenko who said ‘“Winning is not important – I just want to help other students by telling them that’s never too late to learn.”

The annual Festival of Learning aims to celebrate the benefits of lifelong learning and inspire more adults into learning. The organisations and individuals who take part in Festival of Learning are fundamental to its impact.

Nominees will receive their certificates from the National Learning and Work Institute later in the year and we hope to reschedule the Sutton College Achievement Awards event for the Autumn term where many student achievements will be recognised and celebrated.
