Sutton College Learner Services accredited to the Matrix Standard

11 March 2025

The Learner services team at Sutton College have been accredited to the matrix Standard, demonstrating the high quality of both the advice and enrolment services they provide at the adult education organisation.

Sutton College, based in St Nicholas Way, is a service of Sutton Council, offering qualifications, skills and hobbies to local residents. It offers fully funded courses ranging from English Language to Photography as well as leisure courses such as art and calligraphy. Operating for over 50 years, the College has seen tens of thousands of local residents take courses and workshops throughout the years, many attracted by the bespoke learning facilities including pottery and jewellery studios.

The matrix Standard is the international quality standard for organisations that deliver information, advice and/or guidance (IAG), either as their sole purpose or as part of their service offering.

Roger Chapman, Head of the Matrix Service for The Growth Company said: “This is a fantastic achievement for Sutton College and I would like to congratulate the team on their success. We believe that at the heart of high-quality advice and support services are strong leadership, excellent service and a focus on continuous improvement, all underpinned by effective use of the resources available. The matrix Standard is designed to benchmark organisations against best practice in these areas. With their accreditation success, Sutton College is working to provide the best possible support to their clients.”

Commenting on the award, Laurie Nicholls, Director of Learner Services said:

‘This is a fantastic achievement for Sutton College and all those who work in the Learner Services team. However, it would not have been possible without the help, hard work and support from all the teams at Sutton College. This accreditation underpins the invaluable service we provide to members of the public and all our College learners, offering essential guidance and support on their educational, employment and career journeys. Congratulations to all staff as without their valuable input, this accreditation would not have been possible”
