Teaching Vacancies for Academic Year 2023/24

COMPUTING

Job title: Tutor – IT / Digital
Basis: Location: Sutton

17th – 20th June, each course runs Mon, Tues, Weds, Thurs

14:00-18:00)

Salary: Tutor scale £29.09 -£39.89 Including professional responsibilities of planning, teaching and assessment. Depending on qualifications and experience.
Details: We would like to employ a dynamic and engaging tutor, who is able to deliver the necessary knowledge and skills in coding, specifically using Python. This is a Level 4 award with NCFE comprising 2 units. This course provides progression for L3 learners and extends a pathway into employment within a programming role.

Professional industry experience, working within the IT / Digital sector is preferred, and a teaching qualification (minimum level 3) is essential, (or the willingness to work towards one).

Floristry

Job title: Floristry Tutor – Floristry Workshop – Ikebana (Japanese Flower Arranging)

Details: Sutton College are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Tutor to teach Ikebana is the centuries-old Japanese art of arranging flowers. This practice, roughly translates to “making flowers come alive,” uses specially selected blossoms, foliage and other flora to convey a specific feeling or emotion, similar to a painting or sculpture.

We are particularly looking for tutors who have a knowledge of Ikebana.

BRITISH SIGN LANGUAGE

Job title: British Sign Language – Levels 1, 2, and 3
Basis: Location: Sutton – Various days and times. To start 16th September 2024 – 25th June 2025
Salary: Tutor scale £29.09 -£39.89 Including professional responsibilities of planning, teaching and assessment. Depending on qualifications and experience.
Details: Sutton College is looking for qualified & experienced BSL tutors to teach accredited courses in our growing BSL department. We have multiple courses at Levels 1, 2, and 3, Monday to Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings (the appointed tutors would be asked to teach some of the courses, not all).

Sutton Preparation for Employment Entry Level 1 Certificate LLDD (C&G) – S30031H14ZE 24-Apr – 2024 19-Jun-2024 Wed 09:30 13:30
Details: The Supported Learning Department (LLDD) is looking for a dynamic tutor who would like to work with learners with learning disabilities in our PSHE course preparing for Employment.

A L2 qualification in English & Maths is essential. Experience of working with SEND learners is desirable. A Level 3 teaching qualification is required or to be completed within 6 months of your start date.

IQA – MODERN FOREIGN LANGUAGES

Job title: Internal Verifier – MFL
Basis: Location: Sutton – Start date 15th April 2024 – 26th June 2024 – Various days
Salary: IQA Internal Rate – IQA Rate £22.17 – £22.32
Details: We are looking for an experienced IQA for our MFL courses (Spanish, Italian, German)

Knowledge of all languages not required, but experience as an IQA (especially for Skills & Education Group qualifications) or an IQA qualification a must.

INTERNAL VERIFIER

Job title: Internal Verifier Supported Learning
Basis: Location: Sutton
Salary: IQA Internal Rate – IQA Rate £22.17 – £22.32
Details: Supported Learning is looking for an experience Internal Verifier to standardise and IV the City & Guilds Personal Progress portfolios for our learners. The duties will be as follows: To familiarise yourself with the City & Guilds Personal Progress qualifications.

To create a Sampling Strategy in discussion with Head of Department (HoD), Tutors and the Quality Manager (QM) To run standardisation meetings with the tutors To answer tutors’ queries concerning the Personal Progress qualifications To observe tutors conducting assessments on at least one occasion and completing the awarding bodies required documentation. To keep appropriate IV records in accordance with the awarding body To conduct a sampling of portfolios and record findings in accordance with the Sampling Strategy. To update the HoD/QM at regular intervals To meet with the External Verifier.

An Initial Verifier (IV) qualification would be desirable but previous experience as an IV is essential. Experience of working with LLDD learners is not essential.
