Learners and staff attended a charity cake sale this month and raised nearly £200 in aid of local charity St Raphaels Hospice.

Held at the College, both homemade and shop bought cakes were donated to sell in order to raise funds for the hospice which is in dire need of donations. ESOL learners donated homemade traditional bakes, a beautiful sponge cake was made by staff star bakers Lisa Springgay and Jana Torkar and many more gave cakes to support. A total of  £197.83 was raised and gratefully received by St Raphael’s.

The charity is based next to St Anthony’s hospital n London Road and they care for 1 in 4 people in Merton and Sutton living with a life-limiting illness and their families. Over 1,000 patients and those close to them benefit from the exceptional free hospice care at a cost of around £6.5 million every year. The charity only receives around 25% of funding from the NHS, hence why all donations are gratefully received.
