In such cases, the College will provide learners with the option to transfer to a suitable alternative. Early enrolment is recommended to ensure the course of your choice proceeds as scheduled.
Course Approval
For accredited courses you will need to ‘Apply’ for the course that you wish to enrol on. You will be able to choose an assessment appointment convenient to you and will receive a confirmation email. Within this email will be a list of information/documents that you will need to bring along to the assessment.
Approval sessions are designed to ensure you are on the right course for you. They can take up to 2 hours.
Once you have completed a successful approval session, you will be sent an enrolment link so that you can fully enrol online. You can do this on your phone, tablet or PC and you can contact our Enrolment & Customer Services team for any assistance.
Once you have been approved on a course we do encourage you to enrol using the link that has been sent to you ASAP as places are given on a first come, first served basis.
Frequently asked questions
What is an accredited course?
It is a course which enables you to achieve a certificate from a nationally recognised Examination Board, eg City & Guilds. The courses are assessed in a variety of ways, eg course work, end-of-course examination or building a portfolio during the course.
Why do we ask you to complete a Course Assessment?
We do this to ensure that learners are enrolled onto suitable courses and have the skills to manage the courses successfully. It is also an opportunity for you to inform us of anything that you would like the tutor or the College to be aware of before the course starts.
Do I need to do any preparation before I attend the Course Assessment?
Please ensure you have read the course details, available on this website, and that you meet any entry requirements. Please also ensure you bring any required documents (as detailed in the email you will receive to confirm your approval time) to your approval.
How do you allocate places on courses?
Places are offered to applicants further to a successful approval, on a first-come first-served basis, so early application is recommended.
If I am approved, am I guaranteed a place on the course?
No – once you have been approved, you must enrol if you want to secure your place.
I am already a Sutton College learner this year. Do I still need to attend?
If you are already a Sutton College learner on an accredited course, you may not need to attend a course approval session if you are applying for a higher level course in the same subject please speak to your tutor or the Enrolment & Customer Services team for further information.
