On this course, you will learn the essential basics of British Sign Language to build your knowledge and confidence.

This course is ideal for those who have minimal or no current knowledge of BSL and would like to develop their skills further.

This course also covers an introduction to British Values (learning aim 60333984)
This course is Level 1 (Beginners).

You do not need previous experience in British Sign Language.

The course is suitable for complete beginners.

Please note: All British Sign Language (BSL) exams will only take place on a week day (Monday-Friday) between the hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm. You will need to ensure you are available for your exams.
Make an application by the ‘Apply Now’ button and book a Course Approval session to ensure this course is suitable for you.

For your Course Approval session, you need to:

  • Bring accepted ID in the form of either a UK passport or printout of your e-visa showing residency status
  • Bring proof of benefit dated within the last 3 months or most recent payslip /tax return if claiming the concessionary fee
  • Ensure you meet all previous educational requirements to attend this course
  • Bring copies of previous exam certificates
