This engaging course invites learners to discover the fascinating connections between art and science in the 19th century and into the 20th century.

Through a series of themed sessions, learners will explore how artists used observational drawing to study the natural world, from the intricate details of botanical illustration to the disciplined techniques of Victorian art education.

You'll examine the cultural and scientific achievements and shifts of the 19th century and the passionate advocacy of John Ruskin, who championed truth in both art and nature, and pioneered the awareness of Climate Change in the mid-1800s.
This course is open to all who have a keen interest in art history.
