Would you like to start or advance a career in the accounting sector?
This course will cover a range of topics from basic book-keeping practices to the recording and interpretation of complex financial transactions.
If you are self-employed, working in a small business or just wanting to support someone in their bookkeeping, then this is the course for you. There is no need for any prior accounting or bookkeeping knowledge.
It provides a solid grounding for learners before moving on to the Level 2 qualifications.
The course introduces the role of a bookkeeper and gives you the knowledge how to carry out simple bookkeeping tasks. These will include income and expenditure, profit and loss and assets and liabilities.
It will provide an understanding on why it’s important to keep accurate and up to date financial information in business.

The course is structured around 5 themes
* Understand the role of the bookkeeper.
* Understand financial transactions
* Process customer and supplier transactions
* Process receipts and payments
* Understand the benefits and risks of using accounting software to complete bookkeeping tasks,

Please note: This is a fast paced course, with classes twice a week. The course will be delivered online. There will be a computer based exam at the end of the course that will take place in a classroom at the Sutton centre.
All learners must pay a one-off registration fee which is approximately £45.00. Please contact AAT directly for the current price that they charge as this is subject to change. This fee is paid to AAT directly by the learner and not to Sutton College. Your tutor will give you information about registering on the first day of the course

This course also covers an introduction to British Values (learning aim Z0060119)
This course is Level 1.

1: You will need to have appropriate levels of English and Maths skills in order to produce assignments necessary for this course. , You must have achieved an English and Maths Level 1 qualification or above. You will be asked to provide your certificates during the Course Approval Assessment.,

2: You must also be competent in the use of ICT in order to complete unit assignments and access course information provided online.

This course will be delivered online and the exam will take place on site at Sutton College., Please bring a pen, paper and a calculator to your online session. , Any course enrichment opportunities associated with this class will be listed in your Google classroom.
