Are your children now at school and you would like a job that fits in with school times?

This course is a great introduction for anyone interested in a career in childcare or for new parents. It is designed to stimulate interest and encourage understanding of the basic skills and knowledge needed to care for young children up to around 5years, focusing on their growth, learning and development.
Taught by industry professionals, this is a great stepping-stone into a rewarding career in childcare.
This course is suitable for anyone who is thinking of working in a nursery, school nursery or a pre-school setting. It is suitable for individuals including parents and volunteers who would like to play a part in Early Year’s childcare. The units that will be studied are:

* Growth and Development of Young Children
* Respecting and Valuing Children
* Sharing Learning Experiences With Children
* Healthy Eating

Your tutor will give you more information about the course in your first session. As this is a government-funded course, there is a requirement for some elements of English and maths to be included in the programme. Teaching and learning strategies may include some paired and group work activities.

Learning Aim: Z0011145 - This course will also include guidance on using Google Classroom as part of your learning experience. You will learn how to access course information, communicate and collaborate with fellow learners, submit assignments, and receive feedback from your tutor.
This is a Level 1 course.

You will need to be working at Level 1 in your English skills to access the learning and produce the assignments required.

If you do not achieve Level 1 in your English Skills Builder Assessment you must have a UK English Entry Level 3 qualification or above. You will be asked to provide your certificates during the Course Approval Assessment.

This course is a qualification therefore you must attend all sessions and complete all assessment tasks to the required standard.

  • Bring accepted ID in the form of either a UK passport or printout of your e-visa showing residency status

  • Ensure you meet all previous educational requirements to attend this course
  • Bring copies of previous exam certificates
