If your passion is to enhance your skills and express your creativity using flowers, this course will ensure you have a solid foundation from which to progress into the floristry industry.
It will develop your understanding of different botanical materials, how to condition and maintain fresh plant material and how to use the elements and principles of design to create a harmonious display.
You will be taught by experienced tutors with relevant floristry industry knowledge. The skills gained will be those required for employment in the floristry industry as well as equipping you to create more complex designs if you are a hobbyist.

The City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Floristry course has been designed to focus on the skills and training required to work within the floristry industry as a new career path, or for those wishing to update and enhance their existing skills.
The course is 1 day per week over the duration of one academic year and you will be required to produce a portfolio of evidence to include your practical work, complete unit assessments, written assignments, sketches, costings and evaluations.
The course will consist of:
* The creative design process for florists to include colour relationships and the elements and principles of design.
* Identification, care and conditioning of fresh botanical materials.
* Costing fresh materials for retail purposes, to include calculating VAT, labour and sundries.
* Planning, preparing, producing and evaluating floral designs to include costings, care, storage, transport and suitability.
During the course there may be the opportunity to attend nearby floristry events, visit flower markets and to create window and internal floristry displays.
The course is quite demanding. You must be prepared to study and research at home in order to progress and be able to develop your knowledge and floristry skills.
Your tutor will give you more information about the course in your first session.
Learning Aim: Z0011145 - This course will also include guidance on using Google Classroom as part of your learning experience. You will learn how to access course information, communicate and collaborate with fellow learners, submit assignments, and receive feedback from your tutor.

You must also be competent in the use of ICT in order to complete coursework and access course information provided online.
This course is a qualification therefore you must attend all sessions and complete all assessment tasks to the required standard including a portfolio demonstrating how you have met the criteria set by the Awarding Organisation. It will include written narratives, calculations and images of your work.

Please bring a pen, pencil and paper to your class. Your tutor will give you more information in your first session about any further equipment needed.
Ensure you are wearing comfortable and appropriate clothing and footwear for a practical craft course.
