Social media is a powerful tool for staying in touch with family, discovering local community groups, and exploring your hobbies, but it can often feel confusing or intrusive if you don't know how to control it.

This patient, 4-week short course (2 hours per week) is designed for beginners who want to confidently navigate the world of social networks.

You will explore popular platforms in a safe, guided space, learning how to connect with loved ones, share updates, and—most importantly—keep your personal information private and secure.
An overview of the most popular platforms today (such as Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp) and understanding what each is best used for.

Setting up an account safely: creating strong profiles, choosing profile pictures, and understanding usernames.

How to find and follow friends, family members, and local community groups or organisations.
The etiquette of interaction, how to safely "like," comment, share posts, and send private messages without oversharing.

A deep dive into privacy settings, locking down your profile so only people you know can see your updates, photos, and location.

How to spot and block fake accounts, report spam, and manage your "feed" to hide annoying or irrelevant content.
This is a basic introduction course but learners should have English language skills and some IT skills (how to use a mouse and how to open a document).
You can book directly on to this class by simply clicking the ‘Add to Basket’ button and accessing our online booking process.
