If you have ambitions of working as a Teaching assistant in a local Nursery or Primary school, then studying the NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Working with Children in Early Years and Primary Settings is just the course for you.
This course has been set up especially for those who may speak English as a second language.
Versatile and rewarding, with no two working days being the same, this could be the start of your studies for a career in Early Years and Primary Settings.
The course provides valuable vocational experience and gives an insight into working with a wide range of ages of children.
You will need to have a Placement in a local Nursery or Primary school before you start the course. Proof of this must be shown when applying to the college.
You will be taught in the classroom and develop your skills and experiences within your nursery / primary placement settings. You will study various topics. The units of study are as follows:
- Child development
- Play and learning
- Legislation
- Role of the practitioner
- Nutrition
- Physical development and activity.
You will also be expected to complete a minimum of 120 hours of placement in a real work environment – Nursery or Primary.
This course also covers an introduction to British Values (learning aim 60333984)
No prior experience needed, so suitable for all abilities.
You must be able to partake fully in all exercises and presentations.
Minimum English level of Entry 3 or ESOL Speaking, Listening and Reading Entry 3.
Additional information
You may need to have formal interview wear. You will also need to a small notebook and pen for note-taking.
