Seated Exercise – Enrichment (SEND) provides learners with the opportunity to take part in gentle physical activity in a safe and supportive environment. The course focuses on improving mobility, flexibility, and overall wellbeing through exercises that can be completed while seated.
Learners will develop confidence in movement, improve coordination, and support their physical health through accessible and enjoyable activities. The course encourages participation at an individual pace while promoting the benefits of regular physical activity.
Learners will explore a range of topics related to gentle exercise and physical wellbeing, including:
Warm Up & Gentle Stretching
Learners will practise light warm-up movements and stretches to prepare the body for exercise and reduce the risk of injury.
Seated Strength Exercises
Learners will take part in simple seated exercises designed to build strength and improve muscle control.
Flexibility & Mobility
Learners will practise movements that help improve flexibility and support joint mobility.
Coordination & Balance
Learners will develop coordination through guided seated movement activities.
Rhythm & Movement Activities
Learners will take part in fun movement exercises that may include music and rhythm to support engagement.
Health & Wellbeing Awareness
Learners will explore the importance of staying active and how regular movement supports overall wellbeing.
This course is suitable for adult SEND learners who prefer or require low-impact physical activity. No previous exercise experience is required. Learners should be able to participate in seated movement activities and follow simple instructions. Activities can be adapted to meet different mobility needs, and support will be provided to ensure learners can take part safely and comfortably.
