Step Ahead at Sutton College
Employment, Skills and Careers!
The Step Ahead service is a one stop shop for all employment options, careers / skills advice and information.
The team will include Skills and Employment coaches who will be able to help visitors search for jobs, give interview techniques, help with job applications and can provide one to one coaching interviews. They can also refer visitors to key Borough services to get support to get employment, education, or training. The focus will be on engaging with local residents to identify what support they may require, and ensure the process is easy and removes barriers for our residents.
In addition to service team members, a representative from Reed in Partnership will also be based at the centre to offer expert employability support for job seekers through their Work Routes Work and Health programme.
College Principal Tom Dillon said ‘This new service will be a great addition to the College offering. It will provide local residents with the skills, knowledge and support they need to ensure they are confident in applying for and progressing in employment. We look forward to working with Reed in Partnership to bring these opportunities to the local community.’
The centre and its services are a result of a successful bid for the UKSPF (UK Shared Prosperity Fund). The bid is to support and develop work to engage with residents who are unemployed and economically in-active. This will give the College the opportunity to reach residents who need support and engagement in different ways, and will help ensure the College is supportive to all wards of the Borough.
