Tutor for Exercise – Outreach

Details:

We are seeking an experienced tutor to develop and deliver our community exercise courses:

Work Fit – A series of gentle exercise classes supporting individuals in getting fit for work by improving their physical and mental health. Held onsite at Sutton College.

Wheelchair, Seated & Standing Exercise Class – short programmes of exercise within a local residential home to improve fitness and wellbeing and boost mental health.

Both programmes are made up of 1hr sessions, currently planned for Tuesdays 15:00 and Wednesdays 16:00.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Principal, you will deliver a professional Human Resources Advisory and Policy service to stakeholders across the organisation. You will be the focal point for complex HR advice, ensuring that our services reflect staffing needs and are delivered with efficiency and integrity.

 

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Employee Relations: Managing casework including sickness, disciplinary, capability, and grievances, while providing complex advice to managers on employment terms and legislation.
  • Recruitment & Onboarding: Overseeing end-to-end recruitment, from job descriptions and interview panels to managing pre-employment checks and inductions.
  • Compliance: Ensuring the Single Central Register (SCR) is rigorously maintained and that all DBS checks are tracked in line with statutory requirements.
  • Data Management: Maintaining accurate HR data on iTrent and UNITe, producing payroll reports, and ensuring data protection compliance.
  • Strategy Implementation: Supporting the implementation of organisational change and assisting managers to self-manage non-complex ER matters.

About You

We are looking for a proactive solution-finder who can build strong working relationships at all levels. You should possess:

  • Qualifications: Level 5 CIPD qualification (or be currently working towards this) and Level 2 English and Maths.
  • Experience: Significant experience in advising managers on employee relations issues, investigations, and change processes.
  • Knowledge: Up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation and safeguarding (Level 3 safeguarding certification is desirable).
  • Technical Skills: Experience using HR systems (ideally iTrent), with the ability to manipulate data and produce accurate reports.

The Learning Development Assistant (SEND) provides essential in-class support to adult learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The role involves working closely with the SEND Tutor to facilitate learning delivery, manage behaviour, and ensure accessibility. Additionally, the post-holder will complete essential administrative tasks to ensure the smooth delivery of the programme and compliance with quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  1. In-Class Learner Support
  • Provide tailored learning support to individual learners and small groups to maximize their potential.
  • Promote learner independence, confidence, and positive learning behaviours.
  • Support learners with communication, literacy, numeracy, life skills, and employability tasks.

Exams Invigilator

Details:

We are seeking reliable and professional Examination Invigilators to support the Exams Team with the smooth day-to-day running of examination venues.

The role involves preparing examination rooms in line with strict procedures, including setting out stationery, equipment and examination papers. You will assist candidates before the start of exams by directing them to their seats, advising on permitted belongings, and offering guidance to unregistered candidates who do not have allocated seats.

During examinations, you will invigilate in accordance with regulations, responding to candidate queries, managing any examination irregularities, and ensuring a quiet and controlled environment at all times. You will also be responsible for checking attendance, recording late arrivals and early leavers, and collecting scripts from candidates who leave early.

At the end of examinations, you will supervise and escort candidates as they leave the venue, ensuring equipment and materials are not removed without authorisation and that exits are orderly and quiet. You will then collect and collate examination scripts in line with established procedures.

Above all, you will help create a calm, inclusive and non-discriminatory environment, working in line with the College’s Equality Policy.
