Further your bookkeeping knowledge and develop practical accountancy skills.
The aim of the qualification is to further develop the introductory bookkeeping practices and processes studied at Level 1.
The course is designed to develop practical accountancy skills in the double-entry bookkeeping system and in using associated documents and processes.
Learners will cover transactions for accuracy, make entries in appropriate books and ledgers and calculate sales invoices and credit notes.
The aim of the qualification is to further develop the introductory bookkeeping practices and processes studied at Level 1.
The course is designed to develop practical accountancy skills in the double-entry bookkeeping system and in using associated documents and processes.
Learners will cover transactions for accuracy, make entries in appropriate books and ledgers and calculate sales invoices and credit notes.
The course is structured around 2 units
1: Introduction to Bookkeeping
This unit provides learners with an understanding of manual and digital bookkeeping systems. Learners will learn the basic principles of the double-entry bookkeeping system.
As a result they will be able to:
* Understand how to set up bookkeeping systems
* Process customer transactions
* Process receipts and payments
* Process transactions into the ledger accounts
2: Principles of Bookkeeping Controls
This unit will provide learners with the knowledge and skills to explore control accounts, journals and reconciliations.
Learners will develop the ability to prepare the value added tax (VAT) control accounts as well as the receivables and payable ledger accounts.
As a result they will be able to:
* Use control accounts
* Reconcile a bank statement with the cash book
* Use the journal
* Produce trial balances
Please note: This is an intensive, fast paced course.
There will be a computer based exam at the end of each unit that will take place in a classroom at Sutton College.
All learners must pay a one-off registration fee which is approximately £70:00.
Please contact AAT directly for the current price that they charge as this is subject to change. This fee is paid to AAT directly by the learner and not to Sutton College.
Your tutor will give you information about registering on the first day of the course.
Learning Aim: Z0011145 - This course will also include guidance on using Google Classroom as part of your learning experience. You will learn how to access course information, communicate and collaborate with fellow learners, submit assignments, and receive feedback from your tutor.

If you do not achieve Level 1 in your English and maths Skills Builder Assessment you must have UK English and maths Level 1 qualifications or above. You will be asked to provide your certificates during the Course Approval Assessment.
You must also be competent in the use of ICT in order to complete unit assignments and access course information provided online.
This course is a qualification therefore you must attend all sessions and complete all assessment tasks to the required standard.
