Cooking Skills – Quick & Easy – Meals Spring (SEND) supports learners with SEND in developing practical cooking skills for everyday life. The course focuses on preparing simple, tasty meals quickly and safely, helping learners gain confidence in the kitchen while promoting independence and healthy eating habits.
Learners will explore practical life skills through cooking, teamwork, and creative approaches to making meals, with sessions designed to be accessible and supportive for all abilities.

Simple Meal Preparation
Prepare a variety of quick and easy breakfasts, lunches, and snacks using everyday ingredients.
Kitchen Skills & Techniques
Develop skills such as chopping, mixing, heating, and assembling ingredients safely.
Measuring & Following Recipes
Practise reading and following simple recipe instructions while measuring ingredients accurately.
Healthy Eating & Meal Planning
Learn basic nutrition, portion sizes, and simple ways to make meals balanced and tasty.
Kitchen Safety & Hygiene
Understand safe food handling practices and maintain a clean, organised cooking space.
Teamwork & Sharing
Work collaboratively with others, share tasks, and enjoy the meals prepared together.

This course is designed for learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities who would benefit from a practical and supportive learning environment.
No previous cooking experience is required. However, basic English and maths skills are recommended so learners can follow simple instructions, measure ingredients, and take part in practical cooking activities.
Learners must inform staff about any allergies prior to the course to ensure safe participation in cooking sessions.
Learners should have an interest in cooking and be willing to participate in practical kitchen sessions. Staff will provide appropriate support to ensure all learners can safely engage in the activities.
