This course will give you the basic skills and key techniques in order to have the confidence to carry out small DIY jobs around the home.
From drilling and decorating to sawing, plumbing and more, there are so many skills you will learn on this course!
From drilling and decorating to sawing, plumbing and more, there are so many skills you will learn on this course!
You will learn how to:
* Use a Combi Drill safely and correctly, how to identify different drill bits and screw drives.
* Select and use the correct tools and fixings to attach items to walls etc.
* Select and use the correct saw for different wood cutting jobs.
* Work safely with and around electric fittings, replace electric sockets, strip wires and replace a 3-pin plug.
* Plan tiling in either a kitchen or a bathroom, use a tile cutter and hand tools for shaping tiles.
* Prepare walls and ceilings for decoration, how to apply paint to walls to achieve a smooth finish.
* Gain an understanding of domestic plumbing basics including how to drain a radiator, how to easily clean a blocked or smelly sink and how to isolate a tap and access the washers in different styles of tap.Your tutor will give you more information about the course at your first session.Information regarding what you will need for the next session will be given at the end of each session.

This is a basic DIY course for students of all abilities, no prior experience required.

Please bring a pen and paper to your class. Clothes that are suitable to get messy in are recommended.
You will be expected to buy several tools in order to build your own mini DIY kit. Actual costs and items will be advised at the start of the course.
