Get into Woodwork

This course uses the construction of a useful pine toolbox to introduce the following tools, skills and techniques:

- Identification, selection and use of appropriate hand tools to measure and mark wood for accurate cutting.

- Identification, selection and use of appropriate saws and chisels to create simple neat wood joints.

- Preparation and sharpening of a new chisel.

- Techniques for creating dowelled joints.

- How to make and set up “jigs” to hold work safely when using power tools.

- An introduction to and hands-on use of the power tool known as a “Biscuit Jointer”.

- An introduction to and hands-on use of the power tool known as a “Router”.

- An introduction to and hands-on use of the power tool known as a “Bench Drill”.

- An introduction to and hands-on use of the power tool known as a “Band Saw”.

Your tutor will contact you prior to the start of the course with a list of some basic inexpensive items that you will need to assist your making.

This is a basic woodwork course for students of all abilities, no prior experience required.

Please bring a pen and paper to your class.
You will be expected to buy a couple of inexpensive tools to assist with your making.
