If you have a passion and desire to work in the floristry industry, want to become a creative floral designer or just want to express your creativity using flowers, this course is for you.
Deepen your understanding of different flowers and foliage, learn how to select and care for plant material and use them to maximum effect to impress your audience. You will be taught by experienced, floristry industry professionals.

The course is 2 days per week over the duration of one academic year and you will be required to produce a portfolio of evidence that includes your practical work, completed unit assessments, written assignments and photographic captures of your work and sketches.
The course will consist of developing your knowledge of the following:
* The creative design process for florists to include colour relationships and the elements and principles of design
* Identification, care and conditioning of fresh materials. Costing fresh materials for retail purposes, calculating VAT
* Planning, assembling and evaluating floral designs/arrangements to include costings, care, storage, transport and suitability
* Planning, assembling and evaluating tied floristry designs/bouquets to include costings, care, storage, transport and suitability
The course is quite demanding. You must be prepared to study and research at home in order to progress and be able to develop your knowledge and floristry skills.
You may also have the opportunity to present your work as part of an exhibition of shared work at the end of the course.

Learning Aim: Z0011145 - This course will also include guidance on using Google Classroom as part of your learning experience. You will learn how to access course information, communicate and collaborate with fellow learners, submit assignments, and receive feedback from your tutor.

PLEASE NOTE: You must have achieved the C&G Level 2 Certificate in Floristry in order to be eligible for this course.
You will need to be working at Level 2 in your English skills to access the learning and complete the assessment tasks required.
If you do not achieve Level 2 in your English Skills Builder Assessment you must have a UK English Level 1 qualification or above. You will be asked to provide your certificates during the Course Approval Assessment.
You must also be competent in the use of ICT in order to complete coursework and access course information provided online.
This course is a qualification therefore you must attend all sessions and complete all assessment tasks to the required standard including a portfolio demonstrating how you have met the criteria set by the Awarding Organisation. It will include written narratives, calculations and images of your work.

Please bring a pen, pencil and paper to your class. Your tutor will give you more information in your first session about any further equipment needed.
Ensure you are wearing comfortable and appropriate clothing and footwear for a practical craft course.
