B – Sustainability Pathway – Life Skills (SEND) provides adult learners with SEND the opportunity to explore sustainability through practical, creative activities. The course focuses on upcycling and creative reuse, encouraging learners to transform everyday materials into useful or decorative items.
Through hands on projects, learners will develop practical skills, creativity, and environmental awareness while building confidence and independence. Activities are designed to be engaging and accessible, supporting learners to work both independently and collaboratively.
The course also encourages learners to think about how sustainable choices can positively impact their daily lives and their community.

Learners will explore sustainability through a variety of practical and creative activities, including:
Upcycling Projects
Learners will repurpose materials such as bottles, containers, and everyday household items to create decorative objects, gifts, and simple home items.
Practical Creative Skills
Learners will develop practical crafting skills including cutting, assembling, decorating, and designing items using recycled materials.
Sustainability Awareness
Learners will explore the impact of waste and learn how recycling, reusing, and upcycling can support a more sustainable lifestyle.
Teamwork & Social Skills
Learners will work together on projects, sharing ideas and supporting one another while developing communication and teamwork skills.
Creative Enterprise Awareness
Learners may explore how creative items can be displayed, shared, or sold, introducing simple ideas around enterprise and community events.

This course is designed for adult learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities who would benefit from a practical and supportive learning environment.
No previous experience in upcycling or sustainability is required. However, basic English and maths skills are recommended so learners can take part in communication, simple instructions, and practical activities during the course.
Learners should have an interest in creativity and practical activities and be willing to participate in group tasks. Staff will provide appropriate support to ensure all learners can take part and develop their confidence and skills.
