Want to take your photography to the next level?

Learn to push yourself to create images that you never thought possible on this Level 1 course.

Join us and learn to create a portfolio of images to be proud of and build upon a nationally recognised qualification.

This course is suitable for the hobbyist who wants to perfect the techniques of professional photographers as well as those who are aiming to become industry professionals.
This course is designed for learners who wish to develop their skills in making and taking photographic images, giving emphasis on the principles of photo image capture.

You will develop a good understanding of your digital camera including the use of semi auto and manual modes, ISO, aperture, shutter speeds and how to combine them for a good exposure.

Whilst on the course you will also learn various techniques which typically include long exposures, portraits and continuous lighting.

You will also learn how to utilise basic image manipulation techniques including RAW processing, BW processing and layers.

The course also covers digital image manipulation skills using Lightroom CC and Photoshop CC.

Your tutor will give you more information about the course at your first session.

Learning Aim: Z0011145 - This course will also include guidance on using Google Classroom as part of your learning experience. You will learn how to access course information, communicate and collaborate with fellow learners, submit assignments, and receive feedback from your tutor.
This is a Level 1 course.

You will need to be working at Level 1 in your English skills to access the learning and complete the assessment tasks required.

If you do not achieve Level 1 in your English Skills Builder Assessment you must have a UK English Entry Level 3 qualification or above. You will be asked to provide your certificates during the Course Approval Assessment.

Good literacy, numeracy and basic IT skills are a requirement for this course.

This course is a qualification therefore you must attend all sessions and complete all assessment tasks to the required standard including a workbook demonstrating what you have learned.

Additional information

For your first lesson please bring the following:

* DSLR/Mirrorless/Bridge camera and lens
* Charged battery
* New memory card
* New USB memory stick
* Notepad and pen

Additional information:
Location work will be required which typically consists of a gallery visit and location shoot TBD (all information will be given in advance).

Ensure you are wearing comfortable and appropriate clothing and footwear for a practical course.

  • Bring accepted ID in the form of either a UK passport or printout of your e-visa showing residency status

  • Bring copies of previous exam certificates
