A – Your Voice – Mixed Media Pathway (SEND) is a creative pathway designed for learners with SEND to explore and express their ideas through a range of media and communication projects. The course supports learners to develop confidence, independence, and teamwork while building practical life and employability skills.
Learners will work on collaborative and individual projects that include digital media, creative writing, illustration, and presentation. They will have opportunities to share their ideas, develop their communication skills, and create content such as podcasts, games, magazines, and visual media.
Throughout the course, learners will also develop everyday maths and life skills alongside employability skills, helping them prepare for greater independence and future opportunities.
The course takes place across three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with Wednesday as a half day) and encourages learners to develop their voice, creativity, and confidence in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Learners will work on collaborative and individual projects that include digital media, creative writing, illustration, and presentation. They will have opportunities to share their ideas, develop their communication skills, and create content such as podcasts, games, magazines, and visual media.

Communication & Presentation Skills
Learners will practise speaking, listening, and presenting ideas to others. They will build confidence when sharing their work and learn how to communicate clearly in different situations.
Creative Writing & Life Stories
Learners will develop writing skills by creating stories, personal reflections, and short pieces of writing. They will explore ways to express ideas and experiences through words.
Digital Media Skills
Learners will use ICT to create and edit digital content such as podcasts, presentations, or simple multimedia projects. They will develop basic digital skills and learn how technology can support creativity.
Illustration & Graphic Design
Learners will experiment with drawing, design, and visual storytelling. They will create illustrations and simple graphic layouts for projects such as posters, games, or magazine pages.
Employability Skills
Learners will develop skills that support future employment, including teamwork, communication, organisation, and understanding workplace expectations.
Everyday Maths & Life Skills
Learners will practise practical maths skills such as budgeting, measuring, and time awareness, helping them apply maths in everyday situations.
Across the year, learners may work on creative projects such as podcast production, game design, and collaborative magazine or digital publishing.

This course is designed for learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities who would benefit from a supportive and practical learning environment.
Learners do not need previous experience in media, writing, or design. However, basic English and maths skills are required so learners can take part in reading, writing, communication, and practical activities within the course.
Learners should have an interest in creative activities and be willing to participate in group discussions and projects. Staff will provide appropriate support to help learners develop their confidence, independence, and skills throughout the course.
Learners do not need previous experience in media, writing, or design. However, basic English and maths skills are required so learners can take part in reading, writing, communication, and practical activities within the course.
Learners should have an interest in creative activities and be willing to participate in group discussions and projects. Staff will provide appropriate support to help learners develop their confidence, independence, and skills throughout the course.
