Sutton College Courses
If you are studying a course that has an exam or if your course is portfolio based, normally the cost of the exam or exam board registration will be included in the cost of your course. For the few that are not, the cost of the exam will be stated in the course details. Please note that if you need to re-sit an exam, the college will charge a fee for this. Please contact the exams department if this is applicable to you.
To be entered for an exam or to be registered with the exam board, the exams department will give your tutor an exam entry form which you must check and sign and your tutor will return it to the exams department. Most exams will take place at the Sutton centre. The exams department will always send you a letter or email to confirm your exam details
If you have a learning difficulty or a disability or feel that you work slower than others in your class, you may need access arrangements for your assessments and examinations, such as extra time or rest breaks, to complete your work. If this is the case please inform your tutor as soon as you start your course and s/he will refer you to the Learning Support Manager. You will also need to produce medical evidence for a medical condition/disability, or be assessed by the College if you have slow processing or a specific learning difficulty like dyslexia.
The exams department is experienced in helping students who may need Access Arrangements for their exams. We rely on you providing information and identifying any problems as soon as possible so arrangements can be made where necessary.
If you wish to know the exam dates before you start your course, please contact the exams department on 020 8405 7010/11, or email email@example.com. Your tutor should also be able to give you the dates.
PRIVATE CANDIDATES UPDATE
Due to the Government cancelling all GCSE’s and GCE’s for the summer 2021 series, Sutton College is unable to accept any applications from private candidates.
Private candidates need to be assessed in a similar way to other students which includes taking the exam board provided assessment materials in a suitable form. We would not be able to provide the necessary tutor to enable marking or assess candidates based on what they have studied. Exam Boards have advised that they will be working together to provide a list of centres offering to support private candidates through the assessment process, and expect the list to be available before the end of March. Please check the awarding body websites for this information. They are committed to ensuring that Private candidates will not pay higher entry fees if as a result of this they need to make an entry after the extended deadline.
We are still able to take applications for Functional Skills maths with City and Guilds or Edexcel as these exams are still currently running.
If you wish to take a functional skills maths exam the cost is £115. Please email the exams department on firstname.lastname@example.org for further information.
