The course is for people who have passed or are working at ESOL Level 1 and would like to continue to study at a higher level. All four skills are covered (reading, writing, speaking and listening) using relevant and interesting topics related to everyday life in the UK. Lessons are linked to the ESOL core curriculum. Lessons are planned to meet the language needs of the individual learners and to encourage real progress.

ESOL level 2 classes run both at the Sutton centre and online at various times during the week, including some evenings from 7-9pm. Classes generally run for 4 hours (2 classes) per week. The course runs for 16 weeks, 32 sessions in total. The cost is dependent on how many hours you do. For example 4 hours per week in the autumn term for an 16 week writing course will cost £412 standard fee.

What will I learn on this course?

You will cover the following areas, which will be further developed as you progress to other levels.

Understand spoken language including narratives, statements, questions and instructions.

,

Use spoken language to give key personal information.

,

Engage in discussion: express likes, dislikes, feelings and opinions.

Read and obtain information from sources such as forms, notes, e- mails, narratives, letters and short reports.

Recognise and use a wide range of vocabulary related to both work and everyday situations.

You will be required to take an exam.

You do not need to have any qualifications to do this course. It is suitable for learners who have studied Level 1 ESOL

To be considered for a place on this course, you are required to attend a Course Approval session to ensure this course is suitable for you. You will be asked to complete a test/tests.
