General Information

The art of floristry is much admired and in demand. All our senses engage with the beauty of this art. If you enjoy working with flowers and want to develop the flair and business acumen to make money from your creativity, then you need to join this course. You will be taught the techniques and tricks of the trade, how to prepare for; weddings, events, contract work, sympathy work and gifts. You will learn how to price, register for self-employment and gain the understanding of taxes for business as well as how to promote your business to get customers. You can join the Hustle Economy and earn just a little extra or turn your whole career around and build a full-time business. Join us at Sutton College where our supportive, professional teachers will share their wealth of industry knowledge and experience with you.

This is a London quality course, taught by experienced teachers who also teach in the leading London flower schools, charged at a Sutton rate.

What will I learn on this course?

This course aims to: 

Give you the skills needed to create a range of floral arrangements suitable for the commercial market.

Advanced product knowledge

Give you the tools to Plan, prepare and present your service to clients

What level is this course & what skills do I need?

You do not need to be an accomplished florist to do this course. The course is designed to support even complete beginners. The main focus is on you having the desire to progress and being able to learn the skills to make commercially suitable floral arrangements and be able to command the correct market value and operate successfully in this business space.

There will be 4 - 6 hours of homework set each week on average.

To be considered for a place on this course, you are required to complete an online course Assessment to ensure this course is suitable for you.

You will not need to purchase anything for this course as all materials will be provided.

If you choose you can bring:

Florist’s scissors

Apron

Camera to photograph the items you make (you will make items from day 1)

A large bag or trolley to transport your designs

This course will be held at the college, however, before the start of the course you will be invited to join a Google Classroom, which is the tool that will be used to share information with you about the course, update you with important information etc.
