If you want to learn the skills for a WOW garden, start your journey with us.

We will be focussing upon the fundamental practical skills in horticulture, you will be able to learn skills such as planting out, preparing ground, pruning, using a mower, maintaining turf or constructing a path.

,

This Award in Practical Horticulture Skills is for adults getting started in the horticulture industry. Or you might be working in a horticulture job and want to improve your skills. You don't need any previous experience or a current work placement.

The location of the course is within the beautiful Cheam Park with designated free parking and close to the bus stop. Some theoretical elements of the course will be taught within the college at St Nicholas Way.

What will I learn on this course?

Care for a planted areas
Prepare soil and apply an organic mulch
Prepare and plant hanging baskets
Use a leaf-litter blower
Identify weeds.

What level is this course & what skills do I need?

This is a level 1 course accredited by City and Guilds. You do not need any formal qualifications to join this course. You should consider your ability to bend and lift and advise as soon as possible so any adjustments can be made if needed.
