Do you have experience using and understanding the functionality of your camera? Maybe you have a recognised Level 1 photography qualification and you want to take your photography to the next level. If you want to push yourself and create images that you never thought possible whilst learning how to plan and research to ensure you get the best results possible, create a portfolio of images to be proud of; gain a nationally recognised qualification whilst learning various presentation methods. If this sounds like you, then you should be doing this course.

What will I learn on this course?

This course is designed for students who wish to develop their skills in taking/making photographic images, giving emphasis in the principles of photo image capture who either want to progress as a hobbyist or as a career change. You will also learn about various methods of image presentation. The course is also appropriate for students who wish to progress on to further study and training within the Photography industry.

You will learn to develop a good understanding of your DSLR camera including the use of semi auto and manual modes, ISO, Aperture, Shutter speeds and how to combine them for a good exposure.

Various techniques including long exposures, creative portraiture and product photography amongst other portfolio tasks

Classes will consist of both theory and practical tasks including setting up and planning for images. Portfolio work is to be undertaken both in the classroom and in your own time with homework required weekly.

What level is this course & what skills do I need?

Level 1 or equivalent in photography is desirable, DSLR/Mirrorless/Bridge camera, good literacy, numeracy and basic IT skills.

The course will be held within the college, however, before the start of the course you will be invited to join a Google Classroom which is the tool that will be used to share information with you about the course, update you with important information etc.
